This was the advice of a guest from Germany one morning after tasting Wietske’s freshly baked bread.

“Stop wasting your time here. Come open a bread shop in Germany. You will make a fortune.”

Like all good things, this did not happen overnight. There was a substantial amount of experimenting before she arrived at the final product.

A major contributor to her success is the careful selection of ingredients, sourced from local suppliers. The brown bread, for example, is made with stone ground, unsifted whole wheat flour, to which is added all the other essentials, including organic eggs, mixed with a passion for perfection, and baked to perfection.

Our breakfast, which so many guests comment favourably on, is just another contributing element in our goal to ensure that guests have a truly rustic experience in the second oldest town in South Africa, underscored by traditional South African hospitality.
